Why we sell our prints unframed

Most of our prints ship unframed, so you can choose a frame you love rather than pay for one you'd swap out.

Pick your own look. Match the frame to your room, oak, black or white wood, or a mounted gallery style.
Don't pay twice. A frame you didn't choose often gets replaced. Unframed keeps the cost on the artwork.
Ships flat and safe. A flat-packed print travels far better than glass.

Choosing a frame that fits

Our prints come in three standard sizes, so an off-the-shelf frame is easy to find:

21 × 29.7 cm (A4) — fits any standard A4 frame.
30 × 40 cm — a common ready-made frame size.
45 × 60 cm — a popular large size, also widely sold ready-made.

Two easy ways to frame it:

Frame to size. Buy a frame in the exact size above, no mount needed.
Use a mount (mat). Choose a slightly larger frame with a mount cut to your print size, for a gallery look with a border.

Tip: check the frame's artwork opening (not its outer size), and look for a real glass or acrylic front.

How it'll look on your wall

Here's how the three sizes compare against a standard three-seat sofa (about 2 m wide) and an adult, for scale:

Above a sofa or sideboard, most people choose 30 × 40 or 45 × 60 cm. For a shelf or a gallery wall of several prints, A4 works well.

Is this a hand-painted original?

It's an artist-reimagined digital watercolour, made from your photo and printed on premium paper by Gelato. The look and feel is painterly and considered, just not a physical hand-painted original. You'll see the finished artwork on your free digital proof before anything is printed.

What if I'm not happy with the proof?

We'll revise it. Nothing prints until you're happy with what you see. The free digital proof is there specifically so you have full confidence before the order goes to print, particularly important when the print carries your own words.

Which size should I choose for a meaningful wall piece?

For a prominent spot, a living room or hallway, the 45×60cm makes the most impact. The 30×40cm works well above a desk or on a bedroom wall. The 21×29.7cm is ideal for a shelf or a smaller frame. All three sizes are available with an optional wood frame (+£30) in Black, White or Natural.

Can I return it if I change my mind?

Because every print is made to order from your photo, we can't accept returns for a change of mind. You approve a free digital proof before we print anything, so there are no surprises. And if a print arrives damaged or not as approved, we'll put it right straight away.
