Why we sell our prints unframed

Most of our prints ship unframed, so you can choose a frame you love rather than pay for one you'd swap out.

Pick your own look. Match the frame to your room, oak, black or white wood, or a mounted gallery style.
Don't pay twice. A frame you didn't choose often gets replaced. Unframed keeps the cost on the artwork.
Ships flat and safe. A flat-packed print travels far better than glass.

Choosing a frame that fits

Our prints come in three standard sizes, so an off-the-shelf frame is easy to find:

21 × 29.7 cm (A4) — fits any standard A4 frame.
30 × 40 cm — a common ready-made frame size.
45 × 60 cm — a popular large size, also widely sold ready-made.

Two easy ways to frame it:

Frame to size. Buy a frame in the exact size above, no mount needed.
Use a mount (mat). Choose a slightly larger frame with a mount cut to your print size, for a gallery look with a border.

Tip: check the frame's artwork opening (not its outer size), and look for a real glass or acrylic front.

Can I use a group photo with several people in it?

Yes, family portraits and group shots work well. The more faces, the larger the print size we'd recommend: 30×40cm or 45×60cm gives our artists enough room to do everyone justice. Upload the clearest photo you have of the group and note any preferences in the order form.

How does the free digital proof work?

Once you've placed your order and uploaded your photo, our artists reimagine it as a watercolour and send you a digital preview before we print. You can request adjustments or simply approve it, nothing goes to print until you're satisfied. There is no extra charge for the proof.

What sizes and frames are available, and how much do they cost?

The Custom Ornament Portrait comes in three sizes: 21×29.7cm, 30×40cm and 45×60cm. Prints start from £34.95. Adding a wood frame, available in Black, White or Natural, is £30 extra and arrives ready to hang.

How quickly will it arrive?

Delivery typically takes a few days once your proof is approved and your order goes to print. We print close to you via Gelato's network, which keeps transit times short. Check current estimated delivery dates at checkout, particularly if you're ordering ahead of Christmas.

What if I don't like the proof?

Then we change it. The proof stage is there so you can ask for tweaks to the colours, the background or the likeness, and we'll keep revising until you're happy. Nothing goes to print until you approve it.

Can I return it if I change my mind?

Because every print is made to order from your photo, we can't accept returns for a change of mind. You approve a free digital proof before we print anything, so there are no surprises. And if a print arrives damaged or not as approved, we'll put it right straight away.
