What makes a great photo

  • A close-up where the face fills most of the frame.
  • Natural daylight, with no harsh flash or heavy shadows.
  • Taken at eye level, looking towards the camera.
  • Sharp and in focus. A good phone photo is plenty.

Not sure your photo will work? Send it anyway. We'll flag anything at the free proof stage, before we print.

Framing & sizing

Why we sell our prints unframed

Most of our prints ship unframed, so you can choose a frame you love rather than pay for one you'd swap out.

  • Pick your own look. Match the frame to your room, oak, black or white wood, or a mounted gallery style.
  • Don't pay twice. A frame you didn't choose often gets replaced. Unframed keeps the cost on the artwork.
  • Ships flat and safe. A flat-packed print travels far better than glass.

Prefer it ready to hang? Add a fitted black, white or natural wood frame at the size step above.

Choosing a frame that fits

Our prints come in three standard sizes, so an off-the-shelf frame is easy to find:

  • 21 × 29.7 cm (A4) — fits any standard A4 frame.
  • 30 × 40 cm — a common ready-made frame size.
  • 45 × 60 cm — a popular large size, also widely sold ready-made.

Two easy ways to frame it:

  • Frame to size. Buy a frame in the exact size above, no mount needed.
  • Use a mount (mat). Choose a slightly larger frame with a mount cut to your print size, for a gallery look with a border.

Tip: check the frame's artwork opening (not its outer size), and look for a real glass or acrylic front.

How it'll look on your wall

Here's how the three sizes compare against a standard three-seat sofa (about 2 m wide) and an adult, for scale:

Print sizes to scale: A4, 30 by 40 cm and 45 by 60 cm above a sofa A4 30×40 45×60

Above a sofa or sideboard, most people choose 30 × 40 or 45 × 60 cm. For a shelf or a gallery wall of several prints, A4 works well.

About this print

The cousin bond has a particular logic to it, close enough to count as family, but not always close enough to be in every photo. A watercolour portrait of the two (or more) of them is the gift that says this relationship counts, which is precisely why it lands.

Upload a favourite photo of your cousins together and our artists will reimagine it as a soft, artist-reimagined digital watercolour, the kind of portrait worth framing rather than leaving buried in a camera roll. You'll receive a free digital proof before anything prints, so you can check every detail and request changes until it feels right.

It suits birthdays, Christmas, a milestone family reunion, or simply a "thinking of you" that has a bit more thought behind it than most. Available in three sizes, 21×29.7 cm, 30×40 cm and 45×60 cm, printed on premium paper, with an optional solid wood frame in Black, White or Natural for an extra £30. Prices start at £34.95 unframed. Delivered in days.

Frequently asked questions

Can I include more than two cousins in the portrait?

Yes, upload a group photo and the artist will work from it. The more people in the photo, the larger size we'd recommend (30×40 cm or 45×60 cm) so each face has room to shine.

How does the free digital proof work?

Once you've placed your order and sent your photo, we'll email you a digital version of the watercolour portrait for your approval. Nothing goes to print until you're happy, you can request adjustments at no extra charge.

What makes a good photo to use?

A clear, well-lit shot where everyone's face is visible works best. It doesn't need to be a posed photo, candid moments often make for the most characterful portraits.

Can I add a frame before gifting?

Yes. Choose an optional solid wood frame in Black, White or Natural at checkout for an extra £30, it arrives ready to hang, which takes one more step off your plate.

What if I don't like the proof?

Then we change it. The proof stage is there so you can ask for tweaks to the colours, the background or the likeness, and we'll keep revising until you're happy. Nothing goes to print until you approve it.

Can I return it if I change my mind?

Because every print is made to order from your photo, we can't accept returns for a change of mind. You approve a free digital proof before we print anything, so there are no surprises. And if a print arrives damaged or not as approved, we'll put it right straight away.
