Why we sell our prints unframed

Most of our prints ship unframed, so you can choose a frame you love rather than pay for one you'd swap out.

Pick your own look. Match the frame to your room, oak, black or white wood, or a mounted gallery style.
Don't pay twice. A frame you didn't choose often gets replaced. Unframed keeps the cost on the artwork.
Ships flat and safe. A flat-packed print travels far better than glass.

Choosing a frame that fits

Our prints come in three standard sizes, so an off-the-shelf frame is easy to find:

21 × 29.7 cm (A4) — fits any standard A4 frame.
30 × 40 cm — a common ready-made frame size.
45 × 60 cm — a popular large size, also widely sold ready-made.

Two easy ways to frame it:

Frame to size. Buy a frame in the exact size above, no mount needed.
Use a mount (mat). Choose a slightly larger frame with a mount cut to your print size, for a gallery look with a border.

Tip: check the frame's artwork opening (not its outer size), and look for a real glass or acrylic front.

How it'll look on your wall

Here's how the three sizes compare against a standard three-seat sofa (about 2 m wide) and an adult, for scale:

Can I include more than one pet in the portrait?

Yes, if your photo includes more than one pet alongside the owner, our artists will work from it. The clearer the photo, the better the likeness. If you have a specific arrangement in mind, add a note at checkout and we'll do our best to accommodate it.

What makes this different from a standard pet portrait?

A standard pet portrait shows the animal alone. This one captures the owner alongside them, it's the relationship that's being kept, not just a likeness. If the bond between a person and their pet is the point, this is the print for it.

How does the free digital proof work?

Once you've uploaded your photo and placed your order, our artists reimagine it as a watercolour portrait and send you a digital proof to review before anything prints. You can request adjustments at that stage. Nothing goes to print until you've approved it.

Which photo works best for a pet and owner portrait?

A photo where both the pet and the person are clearly visible and well-lit gives the best result. Close-up shots with both faces in focus work particularly well. Avoid heavily filtered images or photos where one subject is blurred or partially obscured, the proof stage is your chance to check the likeness before committing to print.

What if I don't like the proof?

Then we change it. The proof stage is there so you can ask for tweaks to the colours, the background or the likeness, and we'll keep revising until you're happy. Nothing goes to print until you approve it.

Can I return it if I change my mind?

Because every print is made to order from your photo, we can't accept returns for a change of mind. You approve a free digital proof before we print anything, so there are no surprises. And if a print arrives damaged or not as approved, we'll put it right straight away.
