Framing & sizing
Why we sell our prints unframed
Most of our prints ship unframed, so you can choose a frame you love rather than pay for one you'd swap out.
- Pick your own look. Match the frame to your room, oak, black or white wood, or a mounted gallery style.
- Don't pay twice. A frame you didn't choose often gets replaced. Unframed keeps the cost on the artwork.
- Ships flat and safe. A flat-packed print travels far better than glass.

Choosing a frame that fits
Our prints come in three standard sizes, so an off-the-shelf frame is easy to find:
- 21 × 29.7 cm (A4) — fits any standard A4 frame.
- 30 × 40 cm — a common ready-made frame size.
- 45 × 60 cm — a popular large size, also widely sold ready-made.
Two easy ways to frame it:
- Frame to size. Buy a frame in the exact size above, no mount needed.
- Use a mount (mat). Choose a slightly larger frame with a mount cut to your print size, for a gallery look with a border.
Tip: check the frame's artwork opening (not its outer size), and look for a real glass or acrylic front.
How it'll look on your wall
Here's how the three sizes compare against a standard three-seat sofa (about 2 m wide) and an adult, for scale:
Above a sofa or sideboard, most people choose 30 × 40 or 45 × 60 cm. For a shelf or a gallery wall of several prints, A4 works well.

Can I use a group photo, or does it need to be just the two of us?
Either works. A one-to-one photo of you and your mentor makes for a personal portrait; a group shot from a graduation or team event works just as well. The artist-reimagined watercolour style tends to draw focus naturally to faces, so most clear photos, two people or more, come out well. If you're unsure about your photo, the free digital proof will show you exactly how it looks before anything prints.
How does the free digital proof work?
Once you've placed your order and uploaded your photo, our team produces a digital preview of your watercolour portrait and sends it to you by email. Nothing prints until you approve it. If you'd like any adjustments, just ask, we'll revise it before we go to press.
Can I order a framed print so it's ready to hang when it arrives?
Yes. All three sizes are available with an optional solid wood frame in Black, White or Natural for an additional £30. Framed prints arrive ready to hang, no separate trip to a framer needed. If you're posting it directly to the recipient, a framed print removes one step from the unwrapping.
How quickly will it arrive, I have a leaving do or graduation date to hit?
We deliver in days rather than weeks. Exact dispatch times depend on your location and chosen size, but if you have a specific date in mind, note it at checkout or in your proof-approval message and we'll do our best to prioritise your order.
What if I don't like the proof?
Then we change it. The proof stage is there so you can ask for tweaks to the colours, the background or the likeness, and we'll keep revising until you're happy. Nothing goes to print until you approve it.
Can I return it if I change my mind?
Because every print is made to order from your photo, we can't accept returns for a change of mind. You approve a free digital proof before we print anything, so there are no surprises. And if a print arrives damaged or not as approved, we'll put it right straight away.
